Once upon a midnight dreary

Today I have my favorite fantasy and horror authors. In reality I enjoy the work of many --a lot of the stuff I read falls into horror/fantasy/sick-fi--but I've narrowed it down to five, based on how many times I've gone back and read their works, and the impact they have had in my life one way or another.

🎃🎃🎃

Neil Gaiman

From Coraline to American Gods to Stardust. I've loved every single word he's written. I've grown up reading his books and I'll probably be taking his books out of my shelves to read them one more time for years to come.

Junji Ito

Reading Uzumaki was unsettling, but in a good way if that makes sense. And soon became a favorite of mine--along with being my favorite horror manga ever. Junji Ito's work is creepy, mysterious and leaves you thinking about it hours if not days after you've read it.

Ann Radcliffe

What can I say? Ann Radcliffe and Gothic Horror go together. I love her descriptions and the atmosphere she creates in her writing.

Holly Black

The Spiderwick Chronicles were a huge part of my childhood/early teenage years and for that Holly Back became one of my authors of choice and very popular in my personal library.

Ray Bradbury

Horror, fantasy, sci-fi. With Ray Bradbury I had it all. And I always go back to Something Wicked This Way Comes, especially around this time of the year. It's got a nostalgic feel about it, plus, a strange carnival, how can I resist?

I also enjoy(very much so!)the work of: Clive Barker, V. C. Andrews, Roal Dahl, Chuck Palahniuk (I think there is horror in his books), Lovecraft, Poe, Anne Rice (The Vampire Chronicles to be exact), R.L. Stine (how I loved him as a child), Peter S. Beagle, L. Frank Baum, Terry Brooks, Phillip Pullma, Susanna Clarke, Cornelia Funke, Richelle Meade, G.R.R. Martin, Terry Pratchet...and I'm forgetting like a thousand more. I just love books 😉

He's great isn't he? I always have a hard time choosing my favorite work of his.
