🌟 Compared to where I was a week ago I can say I'm getting better. My anxiety has gone down and I'm feeling calmer--not so paranoid anymore. I think it has a lot to do with me not obsessively reading the news, blocking awful people on FB, going out, writing and having my dose of anxiolytics adjusted. I'm sleeping a bit more, huge help honestly. Finally feel more like myself than I felt in weeks ☺️

πŸ₯ On Friday I got x-rays done again, and I can happily say that my ribs are finally okay! (Back in November I fractured them and it's been a slow recovery). I was told to take it slow and be more careful lol

🎟 Watched La La Land last week and I really, really liked it, Emma and Ryan have incredible chemistry and I'm obsessed with the soundtrack. Plus, the geek in me loved spotting the references to other musicals, it was a sure way to get to my heart. I also saw Hidden Figures ❀️ I highly recommend it if you haven't had the opportunity to catch it. It has a great cast and strong performances from strong female leads. I also saw The Great Wall, it was entertaining up to a point but so ridiculous, at least Lu Han❀️ made it worth my time (even though he had a small role in it). All in all I had fun at the cinema.

πŸ“½ The trailer for The Beguiled has arrived and it looks intriguing. I want to see it so much. It's got a great cast--Colin Farrell, anyone?-- and I tend to enjoy Sofia Coppola's film.
Infinity War started shooting and I couldn't be happier about it πŸ’•β˜ΊοΈβ˜ΊοΈβ˜ΊοΈβ˜ΊοΈβ˜ΊοΈ

πŸ“Ί I binge watch a lot --as you might have guessed it-- and after it came out I devoured the entire first season of The Santa Clarita Diet. I loved it. It's a funny and at times gross show but entertaining nonetheless. Drew Barrymore has to be the cutest zombie ever and Timothy Olyphant does a great job as her conflicted but willing-to-go-along husband. They make a credible couple and their relationship is goals, totally sweet. I also started watching Riverdale and I'm liking it so far. Legion is getting better and Powerless is absolutely hilarious. I'm still watching Shadowhunters and omg, Malec date! I like show Alec better than book Alec and I never thought it would happen. Magnus is awesome and deserves everything good in the world. I caught up with Jane the Virgin only to have my heart broken 😒 I really hated what happened.

πŸ“– My reading challenge is going well, I got twenty-five more books to go and ten more months to finish them.

🐈 Somehow Ghost got fleas, he's been inside the house so we don't know how he caught them. He's had a bath and the vet gave him treatment. Hopefully Bella is free of them. I checked but I worry I missed one or something. Anyways, I've been cleaning from top to bottom just to be safe.

Here have a cat chillin (on top of me) after a nice bath.

FANDOM THINGS:

🌚 Tomorrow is the posting date for the first fic inspired by art done by yours truly for the SPN Reverse Bang, I was so lucky to be paired with talented writers. Once the fic is up I'll make sure to edit this entry and add a link to it. It's FANTASTIC. If you're into Destiel, angst, the family business (organized crime in this case), family drama, and clueless men falling in love, you might like this one.

🌝 I'm glad to say I'm keeping up with my resolution of leaving feedback on fanworks I enjoy.

🌚 I'm excited about the Merlin Reverse Bang, I've started writing and the ideas are coming easily. And I'm currently sketching my ACBB fix. 25k is no easy feat but I'm determined to finish this year.

♦ Hello everyone, I salute you from the other side of the border. With everything that's going on I've come to find that being around family and friends is something positive right now and I needed it. A lot. My anxiety was seriously crippling me to the point of having panic attacks, this past week everywhere I looked there was nothing but bad news and things have never looked so bleak. I realize we still have a lot to fight for, but I also made a conscious decision to take care of myself, starting by not reading my Facebook feed as much, log out, take a step back and breathe. There's so much negativity floating around and I don't need that. Not right now.

Me these past days.

⚫ Before all the ban shitstorm hit we came to visit my grandparents--they've been a bit under the weather-- and I believe it was a good idea. At least I'm not absolutely hopeless and sad anymore. My mom returned home Saturday night, I think we were (are) afraid because with the way things are going people just don't feel safe leaving the country. It's an awful feeling. But things were fine. Yet I stayed, right now my grandparents' home is like a haven and I need that. Here I'm distracted and less tempted to check Facebook and argue with people whose logic and common sense is lacking. And I've come to the conclusion giving up--because for a moment there I thought everything was pointless-- is not the answer. I have a voice and speaking out is my right. I plan on going to a march with my sister in SD planned by latina women. Knowing there's people who are ready to fight back makes me hold onto the hope I still have.

♦ In other news, I started reading The Last Dragonslayer by Jasper Fforde, and I'm loving it, he's got such an unique style and sense of humor.

⚫ I've been watching Parks & Recreation, again. The perfect show to enjoy right now. Leslie Knope is queen. I relate so much. Gifs of her are giving me life rn.

(Trying to wake up. What do you mean this is all real?)

♦ Tomorrow I'm finally seeing La La Land, I've heard so many good things that I'm almost scared because I don't wanna be dissapointed by it. Emma Stone is a point in its favor for me πŸ’ž

⚫ I forgot my iPad back home so I'm using my grandma's tablet, I had to change the language because autocorrect kept changing every word into Spanish. It was funny and annoying. Also, I'm loving the emojis because they look super cute. Idk, I've been comparing both. So, I was wondering, do you use a tablet or an iPad? If so, how useful do you find it? I was contemplating getting a new iPad but now I'm considering getting a Samsung tablet.

β—‹ I've been writing more because I can focus my energy in something I like.

β–‘ I was reminded over the weekend that I'm participating in the SPN Reverse Bang as an artist, thankfully the authors have checked in with me and it's such an awesome feeling to know your art can be the basis for a fic. β˜ΊπŸ™‚

β—‹ I'm totally going to sign up for After Camlann and actually finish! And there's a word war I have to join too πŸ€“

A series of storms--three to be exact--is set to hit us this weekend, starting today and apparently they're gonna last until Tuesday. There's been some warnings concerning flooding in certain areas, and Friday's storm will be the strongest one. Snow will fall on the mountains which means I'm currently wearing a ridiculous amount of layers. I am that cold. My fingers and nose are freezing.

I already downloaded stuff from Netflix in case we lose power because of the strong winds. I'm gonna stay home the next couple of days and watch the rain through the windows, I can just picture the palm trees swaying with the wind.

I've got a weekend full of rain ahead of me.

Today I took my cats to the vet, both had been sneezing and with the low temperatures we've been having I was worried it could get worse. Thankfully they didn't need medicine, but I was told to watch them and keep them warm. It's not going to be difficult because now that she can sleep on my bed again Bella's been disappearing under the covers. At night's usually freezing. I try to see it as a win-win situation given how cold I tend to be.

I'm also happy because Ghost is getting closer to two pounds which means he's growing healthy. He was so tiny when my brother brought him home. He's definitely got an appetite now.

If you have pets, how well do they take going to the vet? Do they have a favorite napping spots? Do they steal your bed? I'd love to hear about your pets. 😊🐢🐱
Day 7

In your own space, create a fanwork. Make a drabble, a ficlet, a podfic, or an icon, art or meta or a rec list. Arts and crafts. Draft a critical essay about a particular media. Put together a picspam or a fanmix. Write a review of a Broadway show, a movie, a concert, a poetry reading, a museum trip, a you-should-be-listening-to-this-band essay. Compose some limericks, haikus, free-form poetry, 5-word stories. Document a particular bit of real person canon. Take some pictures. Draw a stick-figure comic. Create something.

Oh, boy. I didn't know what to make. Here we go:

DRABBLE

Marvel | Clint Barton/Scott Lang | PG-13 | 659 words | Summary: Getting hitched in Vegas is such a cliche, but here they are.

Day 8

In your own space, make a list of at least 3 things that you like about yourself.

🌈 I don't give up easily and persevere when I find obstacles.

🌈 I'm a curious person and I love learning new things.

🌈 I'm an animal lover. If I had the means I'd adopt every cat and puppy I find on the streets. Both my kitties are rescues and I couldn't love them more. I wish more people adopted from shelters instead of buying. I know some of you have done it and I feel grateful for that. You're awesome!

Day 9

Send feedback to two fannish people β€” they can be anyone you want: a writer who’s made you happy, a moderator of your favorite exchange (not us!), a fanartist you avidly follow… There are so many possibilities. Just let someone know you appreciate their work.

This is actually perfect because one of my goals this year is leaving more feedback on fanworks I enjoy.

So...DONE! 😊
Day 04

Comment to someone you haven't ever interacted with before or introduce yourself to someone you've interacted with and friend/follow them.

Done, done, done! πŸ’…πŸ»

Day 5

In your own space, post recs for at least three fanworks that you did not create.

I always have such a difficult time narrowing it down to just a couple of works from all the ones I love. There are so many amazing fanworks out there. How can I choose? Yeah, I'm doing more than three πŸ˜‰

⭐️ Inception
The Steinway!verse by toomuchplor

The alternate universe where Arthur's a pianist and Eames is a lyric baritone and their love is so lieder, omg.

This series is fantastic. It was one of the first Arthur/Eames fics I read and I go back to it from time to time to refresh my memory, and every time it's as amazing as the first.

⭐️ Supernatural
Wednesday Addams!Castiel by artsiel, powerfulweak

This series is exactly what it says, Castiel as Wednesday Addams, what's not to love about it?

⭐️ Merlin
Spirit of the Game
Despite working summers at one of Albion's oldest grounds, Merlin gave exactly zero fucks about cricket or cricketers until the day one of the visiting 1st XI, striding past in his whites, paused and crouched down to adjust his shoelaces.

Sports+Merthur+enemies to friends to lovers trope. Yes, it should read at least once because missing it would be a total shame.

This Silly Ol' Dance Is Perfect for Two by SlantedKnitting

Arthur is young, gorgeous, talented, and captain of one of the best football teams in England; his life should be perfect. But he can't keep a girlfriend for more than a few months, and it's not just because he isn't ready to settle down. When his most recent girlfriend dumps him, he has a rough night at the pub and has to be dragged home by his neighbour, Merlin. Merlin is an archivist, a Ph.D student, and he hates football almost as much as he hates Arthur. They both have their own reasons for not wanting to spend time with each other, but after that disastrous night, remaining silent neighbors doesn't seem like much of an option anymore.
Modern AU.

Yes, merthur+sports again! This one is brilliant. I love how vulnerable Arthur is in this one, and how Merlin ends up helping him and they become friends and something else too eventually.

⭐️ DCU
You could've made a safer bet by
likewinning
It's hard to call someone a dick when that's their name. Or, the one where Dick and Midnighter are roommates, and everyone eats too many Fruit Loops.

Omg, Dick/Midnighter makes me weak at the knees and this AU is so perfect and still true to their characters.

⭐️ Marvel/MCU
Money Honey by DoreyG

"So,” Scott says one day, sending him a glance that can best be described as flirtatious, β€œhow rich actually are you?”

This one's short but soooo good. I stumbled upon it and gave it a chance despite never reading or considering Scott Lang/Hank Pym as a pairing. I don't regret it one bit.

⭐️ Hannibal
Provenance by drinkbloodlikewine, whiskeyandspite

A delightful AU about a rare book dealer, an owner of a high-end coffee shop, and murder. This does involve Hannibal Lecter, after all.

I'm just gonna say: I LOVE IT

⭐️ In the Flesh
There are Stars Inside You by owlinaminor
β€œWe can create a world of divine love as much as we can imagine.” – Allen Ginsberg

Or, how Simon Monroe’s novel found a cover and his heart found a companion, all thanks to one brilliant move by Amy Dyer, the beautiful genius.

I don't usually favor AUs in this fandom 'cause I love the canon setting so much, but this fic is lovely.

🌟That was it for today. I almost want to rec about twenty more fics xD 🌟

⭐️ Also, if you have any sports AUs recs for any of these fandoms (or Star Wars, Star Trek, Shadowhunters/TMI...), please share away ☺️
Day 2

In your own space, share a book/song/movie/tv show/fanwork/etc that changed your life. Something that impacted on your consciousness in a way that left its mark on your soul.

After much consideration--I struggled so much because I feel there's a ton of works that have moved me, changed me, shaped me, that never leave me and I'll always love--I finally picked just one. My choice was a very sentimental one and one that brought me joy. Little me loved this to pieces.

The Harry Potter series by JK Rowling

When I was a kid I struggled a lot with reading on my own because of my dyslexia, my mother would sit with me and help when the words and letters shifted and I got mad. She'd read aloud for me to follow the words with my eyes and even when I got frustrated she kept doing it. I did feel safe with her reading along with me, it eased my anxiety over it. There were also comics, and bright colored books and audio-books involved. One day she borrowed a book from my brother, it was The Sorcerer's Stone. I remember complaining because I had seen the movies, obviously I did not need to read the book, I already knew what was going to happen. She told me to try it. Despite liking books--since I have a memory there was always someone reading aloud to me--some days the idea of reading one with all those pages and words seemed terribly daunting for little me. I felt like someone would come out from the shadows to laugh at me for stumbling and tripping on the words. But after some grumbling I listened to her.

Today I'm glad I did because that book changed something in me. It was the first long book I read entirely on my own that didn't feel like a chore, I took it calmly, little by little and by the end I felt like I could also belong at Hogwarts. I wasn't like the other kids, I felt inadequate and awkward, but if Harry, Ron and Hermione found their place, so could I.

I'll always love HP because to this day I still take a bit longer than the average person reading a paragraph, but that's okay, being different can be magical, and we all have our things that makes us unique.

Day 03

In your own space, set some goals for the coming year. They can be fannish or not, public or private.

Fannish goals:

πŸ“ Write more than last year.

πŸ“ Read more fics and comment more often, leave kudos, etc!

πŸ“ Being more active in my fandoms. Making art, graphics, fanmixes, writing fic, helping others, etc.

πŸ“ Don't sign up to every fest, because then it sucks when I have to pull out because of lack of time or I miss a deadline :/ I vowed to only sign up if I know I will be able to complete my work.

πŸ“ Meet more people who share the same interests.

Personal goals:

πŸ“ Don't skip a single meal.

πŸ“ Read thirty books.

πŸ“ Begin to draw again.

πŸ“ *Maybe return to ballet :o

Happy holidays to you all! I hope you had the best of times, ate delicious food, got awesome gifts and most of all that you shared a wonderful time with your loved ones β˜ΊοΈπŸŽ„βœ¨

I'm currently away from home and out of the country, I'll be back before New Years and I'll update with everything that's happened in the last few weeks. I hope to catch your posts too.
